When I demo WebRadar, one of the features that gets a great reaction is Bulk Edit. I particularly like this feature as it reduces the time to modify a lot of data, especially if even identifying the data would be difficult within WCM.
So what do I mean by Bulk Edit?
Say for instance that John, an employee of your company, has just left and that he was responsible for some important content on your site. Ideally, you want to change the content owner for all of John’s content to another employee, say Mandy. How would you do this in WCM and importantly, how long would it take?
Well to start with you’d need to identify all the content owned by John, then edit each content item, assigning a new content owner. As you can imagine, this is a pretty time consuming and hence a costly exercise.
With WebRadar, however, this becomes a trivial exercise.
First, you create a simple report retrieving all of the content owned by John. You then perform a bulk update on these records, removing the content owner John, and adding the new content owner Mandy. Finally, with the click of a button, you alter all of the records.
Bulk Editing is just one of my favorite features in WebRadar and highlights how, with the right tools, complex management of your content becomes a simple exercise.
