Summer’s been heating up at Ephox this July and August, and we’re on a hot streak of product releases and announcements for TinyMCE and Textbox.io.
First up, we announced the ability to purchase TinyMCE premium features online. Including a new subscription offering, it’s now so easy to get TinyMCE’s more advanced content creation features. From a single plugin on the Basic Plan to bundling everything up in the Pro Plan, we now have a solution for most businesses.
We followed this up with the launch of Tiny Cloud. It’s a new service giving you the best of TinyMCE’s pro services with most of the difficult, server-side development work done for you.
We also released TinyMCE 4.4, adding a new, minimalist theme called InLite, which brings a Medium-like editing experience to TinyMCE’s inline mode.
Last but definitely not least, we released a new version of Textbox.io, introducing version 2.0. The commercial sister to TinyMCE, it brings many new features and improvements and we can say with absolute confidence that it provides the best mobile compatibility and user experience on the market.
Finally, we also launched a new plugin that developers will love. The Advanced Code Editor adds color syntax highlighting, bracket matching, code folding, and multiple carets in the source code view.
With so much that’s new, we thought, “why stop?”—so we’re going to doing something a little different on the Ephox blog.
Next week, we will kick off our “WYSIWYG Top 10”. We’ll explain why the Ephox editors continue to be the rich-text editor of choice; why Ephox continues to be the name in WYSIWYG editing; and the role it will play in shaping the future in content creation.
The series will explore a range of issues from technical features to business cases.
For example, little is known about the impact TinyMCE has on the millions of bloggers, authors and entrepreneurs creating inspiring content and building great, global businesses. We’ll look at this from several viewpoints.
We will also analyze how to extend and customize the editors to your needs. Tailoring a WYSIWYG to fit a project’s requirements is often key to its’ success.
The series will also explore the characteristics of both TinyMCE’s and Textbox.io’s unbeatable user experience and what makes it so great. We’ll also uncover the professional content plugins that can help you build a great business.
We look forward to sharing our vision for the future of WYSIWYG.
